A minor, reportedly a Serbian national and ISIS sympathizer who displayed the group’s flag on Instagram, was fatally shot by a police officer after launching a knife attack outside the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade early Wednesday morning. The assailant allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he slashed the officer, identified as D.S., in the face with two knives, causing minor injuries. The officer, acting in self-defense, drew his service weapon and fatally wounded the attacker. Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic stated that authorities are treating the incident as a terrorist attack and that security forces had been monitoring the assailant. The attack prompted Serbia to raise its terrorism threat level to the highest, increasing police presence at sensitive locations nationwide. This incident follows a similar attack in June where another assailant wounded a police officer guarding the same embassy before being killed.
