A Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) janitor, Julian Mobley, a husband and father, was allegedly stabbed and killed by Chevazz Campbell, 37, in a daytime attack outside the Damen Green Line station after an argument over fare evasion. Prosecutors stated that Campbell, who was reportedly on electronic monitoring at the time of the horrific incident, had accumulated at least four probation violations, including curfew infractions, prior to the fatal encounter. The attack, which began with Campbell allegedly spraying Mobley with mace, escalated to a stabbing in the neck, and authorities also report that Campbell robbed the victim before his arrest hours later. Campbell faces charges including first-degree murder, armed robbery, and being a felon in possession of a weapon, highlighting a critical failure in the justice system where an individual with a history of violations, while under electronic surveillance, allegedly committed a violent murder.
