Senator Chris Murphy, D-Conn., a prominent Democrat and potential 2028 presidential hopeful, was hospitalized Saturday after experiencing a stroke. The incident occurred while Murphy was attending his son’s hockey game when he began to feel numbness in his arm. He was initially taken to a local hospital, where the stroke was diagnosed, and subsequently transferred to Johns Hopkins for further monitoring. His chief of staff, Allison Herwitt, released a statement Sunday indicating that Murphy is awake, alert, responding well to treatment, and that doctors are optimistic about his full recovery. The 53-year-old senator, who was first elected in 2013, had been actively campaigning for Democrats in the lead-up to the midterm elections and was scheduled to appear in New Hampshire on Sunday.
