Ronald D. Moore, a veteran writer of multiple Star Trek series, has helmed a new Apple TV+ original sci-fi series that is already drawing comparisons to the iconic space exploration franchise, with many hailing it as a spiritual successor. This development comes at a poignant time, as the world reflects on the legacy of Patrick Stewart, a titan of Star Trek. Moore’s new show presents a compelling opportunity to explore new frontiers in space exploration storytelling, potentially eclipsing Star Trek’s long-held dominance in the genre and offering a fresh, critically acclaimed (91% on Rotten Tomatoes) vision that could redefine futuristic television narratives.
