Despite ongoing civil unrest in France, the NFL remains steadfastly confident in its security and operational plans for its inaugural regular-season game in the country, with executive vice president Peter O’Reilly stating the league is being “very vigilant” and planning on an “hour-by-hour basis.” While acknowledging that contingency plans, including potential relocation or postponement, are always in place for every NFL game, O’Reilly emphasized that discussions about invoking these measures for the upcoming matchup in Paris have not reached a critical stage, asserting, “We have never been close to that point.” This confidence stems from extensive on-the-ground work by the NFL’s security team and close collaboration with the world-class Stade de France, a venue with a proven track record of hosting major international events. O’Reilly highlighted that security presence will be heightened, working in partnership with local authorities, to ensure the utmost safety for the approximately 81,000 fans, players, and personnel involved, underscoring that “nothing is more important from our standpoint than the team security, the fans’ security, everybody involved with this game.”
