Illegal Immigrant DoorDash Driver Stalked, Fatally Shot California Woman Despite Restraining Order

A California woman, Shalini Thakur, was tragically killed outside a Sacramento County Panera Bread by an illegal immigrant DoorDash driver, Rohit Rohit, who had been stalking her for months and was subject to a restraining order. DHS stated that Rohit approached Thakur near her car, chased her when she attempted to flee, and fatally shot her before taking his own life when apprehended by police. The DHS spokesperson condemned the incident, attributing it to the Biden Administration’s policies that allegedly released the perpetrator into the country, and criticized sanctuary policies for endangering lives. Thakur had reported being stalked since January, when she discovered an Apple AirTag on her car, and had detailed Rohit’s increasingly aggressive behavior, including attempts to coerce marriage, threats, deflating her tires, and even entering her home. Despite obtaining a restraining order in May, the stalking continued, and her mother expressed distress that authorities had not acted decisively. Rohit had reportedly entered the U.S. illegally through Arizona in August 2023 and was released by Border Patrol with a court date, a common practice under current administration policies.
