In a stunning display of self-defense, the owner of Medina Jewelers in Lynnwood, Washington, opened fire on a group of masked thieves who used a pickup truck to smash through the storefront in broad daylight, sending the would-be robbers scrambling to flee empty-handed. The audacious attempted robbery unfolded shortly after 12:25 p.m. on Tuesday when surveillance footage captured three vehicles circling the premises before a white Toyota Tacoma violently crashed through the front of the store, shattering glass and causing immediate chaos. Several suspects, some appearing to be armed with an axe, then rushed through the breach. However, their plans were quickly thwarted as the store owner retrieved a firearm and discharged shots, prompting the intruders to abandon their heist and escape. While no injuries were reported at the scene, Lynnwood Police reported that the suspects fled in a black BMW SUV, which may have sustained damage during its escape, and a silver sedan. Authorities are actively investigating and seeking public assistance to identify the suspects and vehicles involved, urging anyone with information to contact crimetips@lynnwoodwa.gov, referencing case No. 2026-37986.
