Woman Found Naked Outside Martha’s Vineyard State Police Barracks After Alleged Rape

A shocking incident has rocked the Martha’s Vineyard State Police barracks after a woman, visiting from Ireland, was discovered naked and in distress on the side of the road, having allegedly ‘ran for her life’ from an assault inside the facility. Prosecutors revealed in court that Edward Brown, 27, a school security official from an elite Boston school, is accused of raping the woman after meeting her at a local bar. Brown, who was reportedly a guest at the barracks visiting a state trooper friend, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The victim told investigators she was followed by a man at the bar before blacking out and later waking up naked, with prosecutors detailing her account of being held down despite her struggles. She described a desperate escape, running down two flights of stairs and out of the building before finding help. Responding officers noted bruises on her legs and a red mark on her neck. Evidence, including text messages between Brown and the trooper he was visiting, suggests Brown had asked about bringing a woman to the barracks and inquired about condoms, later giving conflicting accounts of the night’s events. An Uber driver corroborated picking up a man matching Brown’s description and a disoriented young white female and driving them to the barracks. The incident has prompted an internal review by Massachusetts State Police and a policy change prohibiting guests from staying at police housing on the islands.
