War Official Claims Foreign Adversaries Fueling Anti-AI Movement Through ‘Psyop’ Operations

A top Department of War official has revealed that foreign adversaries are actively conducting ‘psyop’ (psychological operations) to undermine the United States’ advancement in artificial intelligence and data center infrastructure. Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael warned that this propaganda campaign aims to sway public opinion against AI development, directly benefiting nations that do not want the U.S. to achieve superintelligence superiority. Michael emphasized that data centers are the critical ‘electricity’ powering the AI revolution and that their continued production is essential for maintaining America’s lead in the global AI race. This revelation comes amidst growing protests against data centers and AI advancements across the U.S., with lawmakers increasingly questioning the role of foreign influence. Senator Ted Cruz has drawn parallels to past foreign interference in anti-fracking movements, suggesting that adversaries seek to cripple U.S. energy independence and technological progress. Investigations have also highlighted significant funding, totaling hundreds of millions of dollars, from American-born tech tycoon Neville Roy Singham, who resides in Shanghai, into various U.S.-based nonprofits and organizations. These recipient groups, some openly pro-China communist, have become leading voices in the opposition to data center development. One such group, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, has publicly decried the concentration of AI and data center control in the hands of billionaires, framing it as a workers’ uprising. The Department of War itself is heavily integrating AI, with user adoption soaring from 70,000 to 1.7 million personnel, revolutionizing enterprise operations, warfighting, and intelligence by drastically reducing work hours and enhancing strategic capabilities.
