A tenth-grade student from Winter Haven High School is among the two fatalities in a horrific multi-vehicle collision involving a school bus in Polk County, Florida. The devastating crash occurred around 6:15 a.m. when a white Chevy Malibu reportedly veered across a two-lane road, striking the rear wheels of the school bus and dislodging a tire. The bus, carrying 37 students, its driver, and the driver’s 9-year-old daughter, was subsequently forced into oncoming traffic where it collided head-on with a silver Jeep. The Jeep’s occupant was the second individual confirmed dead. Authorities reported that five to seven other individuals sustained injuries, with at least one in critical condition, requiring transport to local hospitals via helicopter, ambulance, and private vehicles. The driver of the Chevy Malibu, who was reportedly on their way to work, is cooperating with investigators but has not been arrested. Sheriff Grady Judd described the scene as a “horrible crash” and a “terrible, tragic morning,” lamenting the loss of a “beautiful 10th grade girl.”.
