The Freedom 250 Grand Prix practice session was thrown into disarray with multiple red flags, despite a dry track offering a prime opportunity for drivers to set fast laps. Graham Rahal’s No. 15 Honda spun out and hit the wall in a braking zone, halting progress just ten minutes into the session and costing him valuable track time. The treacherous Turn 6 braking zone, which had already caught Rahal, proved to be a significant challenge for his RLL teammate Louis Foster as well. Foster lost control after hitting a bump, impacting the inside wall and damaging his front wing, leading to the second red flag. While Foster managed to return to the pits for repairs, the incident highlighted the unforgiving nature of the street circuit. Despite the interruptions, lap times accelerated as drivers became more accustomed to the track. Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin briefly held the fastest lap before Alex Palou, on fresh alternate tires, ultimately set the pace with a 56.615, narrowly edging out Kyle Kirkwood, who posted a strong 56.691 on primary tires, signaling a potentially tight battle in qualifying.
