A Memphis mother, Kendra Scott, is facing a first-degree murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing a man identified as Rodderius Morton, whom she discovered hiding under her daughter’s bed. According to an affidavit, Scott told police, “I saw a dude under my kids’ bed, and I did what I had to do.” Officers found Morton in the front yard with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. A juvenile witness reported hearing Scott yelling “Who’s at my house?” before she entered the home and found Morton. While witnesses claim Morton entered the home after being invited and left without a weapon, an argument ensued, and a single gunshot was heard as they were on the front porch. Documents indicate Scott had previously stated, “If I see a boy in my house, I will put a hole in his —.” Scott is also charged with employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and is being held without bond.
