A civilian is in custody after violently engaging security personnel and breaching the perimeter of MacDill Air Force Base in Florida on Saturday afternoon. The incident, which occurred around 1 p.m. at the Dale Mabry Gate, resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to both a security officer and the civilian assailant. The Dale Mabry Gate has been closed to all inbound and outbound traffic until further notice as the investigation into the unprovoked attack continues. The base, which also serves as headquarters for U.S. Central Command, has not specified the motive behind the individual’s actions.
