Bedbugs Force Qantas Flight Cancellation After Passengers Report Bites

A Qantas flight from Perth to Rome was thrown into chaos, forcing its cancellation, after passengers reported being bitten by bedbugs that were seen crawling on belongings, clothing, and even along the windows of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The infestation was discovered on October 9th, with travelers alerting the flight crew on the initial leg of the journey. Despite the airline’s efforts to deep clean the cabin, remove seat coverings, and cordon off affected areas before the return flight from Rome, the issue necessitated the cancellation of the Rome-to-Perth service to allow for a thorough deep clean and inspection. Qantas issued an apology to affected customers, providing hotel accommodations and rebooking them on alternative flights within 48 hours, while passengers who experienced the bites were offered antihistamines.
