Hours after a relative called 911 expressing concern over his erratic behavior and belief that he planned to “live for God,” Thomas Henry Steele, 47, allegedly used a chainsaw to decapitate his aunt, Christy Deloach, 65, and grandmother, Dora Boone, 85, at their Mobile, Alabama home. The chilling incident came to light when police discovered the two women deceased and Steele, who had reportedly stopped taking his lithium and given away his possessions, detained at the scene. During a subsequent bond hearing, Steele allegedly told the judge to “kill him” when appointed a public defender, prompting the judge to order a competency evaluation, the results of which could take up to 90 days and will determine the next steps in prosecuting Steele for capital murder, while prosecutors consider if his courtroom outburst warrants additional charges.
