Investigators are treating the deaths of a 22-month-old disabled toddler and his two grandparents, discovered with apparent gunshot wounds in their Gnadenhutten, Ohio home, as a likely murder-suicide, according to Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis L. Campbell. The grim discovery followed a perplexing 911 call where a dispatcher heard a faint “help” after the line was initially hung up. Deputies struggled to trace the call, eventually locating it to the residence where they found the deceased: 22-month-old Kozzar Lotut, his grandmother Melissa Campbell, 51, and grandfather Gale Sanders, 67. The sheriff indicated that evidence strongly points towards an incident that occurred within the home, though autopsies are pending to confirm the exact cause and manner of death. The toddler’s grandparents were reportedly his caretakers, with the child having known medical disabilities.
