Fitness Trainer’s Death Ruled Natural Causes Amidst Husband’s Defense

Nearly four months after her disappearance, the cause of death for South Carolina fitness trainer Elena Katherine Moore, 39, has been officially declared as natural, stemming from complications of cardiac dysrhythmia with premature ventricular contractions. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher stated that an autopsy revealed no evidence of traumatic injuries, strangulation, or sexual assault, with toxicology tests detecting only alcohol. Fisher explicitly defended Moore’s husband, Brannon Slice, asserting he was never a suspect and, in fact, was instrumental in seeking help for Moore during a severe mental health crisis in the days leading up to her disappearance. The coroner questioned the decision by the mental health facility to discharge Moore on June 11, just days before she was found dead on June 17, after she had been involuntarily committed on June 5. Moore was last seen on surveillance footage walking through a parking lot after a taxi ride from the facility, during which she reportedly expressed fear of the driver. Investigations into her medical history revealed a long-standing issue with irregular heartbeats since age 14, with more recent records documenting cardiac arrhythmia, sinus tachycardia, and hypertension, underscoring the coroner’s conclusion of natural causes despite the tragic circumstances.
