Ex-Workers Detail ‘Unbearable’ Conditions at CCP-Linked Ohio Factory Under Congressional Scrutiny

Former employees of Fuyao Glass America Inc., a Chinese-linked manufacturer operating in Ohio, have come forward to detail alleged brutal work conditions, including unbearable heat and a climate of fear aimed at preventing unionization, during a roundtable event attended by Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., who is conducting Congressional oversight on the company. Tiffany Moore, a three-year veteran, described the factory’s heat as ‘unbearable’ and stated that management ‘don’t care.’ Demetria Hodges, who worked there for five years, recounted alleged scare tactics used to deter union votes and a one-time $2 hourly pay raise offered a decade ago that was never repeated, suggesting the company actively worked to suppress worker organizing. Another former employee, Darrell, highlighted the company’s alleged callousness in forcing workers to continue operations the day after a fatal industrial accident where a colleague was killed by glass, stating, ‘They made us work.’ Congressman Khanna’s committee had previously sought information from Fuyao regarding wage suppression, worker conditions, and alleged violations of U.S. labor and immigration laws, but received an unsatisfactory response, leading Khanna to write that the company’s lack of transparency suggests ‘your companies have something to hide.’
