Autopsy Reveals ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Actor James Handy May Have Been Incapacitated Before Fatal Stabbing

The autopsy report for “Top Gun: Maverick” actor James Handy, who was found stabbed outside his Los Angeles home, reveals critical new details suggesting he may have been incapacitated by neck compression before the fatal stab wound was inflicted. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office stated it is possible the neck compression occurred prior to the stabbing, potentially incapacitating the 81-year-old actor before he was fatally wounded. Handy’s death was officially ruled a homicide, resulting from multiple traumatic injuries including a stab wound to the torso and neck compression. Investigators believe the altercation began as a verbal argument between Handy and his girlfriend’s son, Michael Gledhill, 44, which escalated into a physical fight. Authorities allege Gledhill mounted Handy, dragged him aside, entered the residence, and returned with a knife to stab the actor. Gledhill was arrested at the scene, with police reporting he flagged down officers and confessed, stating, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.” Gledhill has been charged with murder and using a deadly weapon, facing up to 26 years in prison if convicted. His arraignment was postponed as he was sent to mental health court for psychological evaluations to determine his competency for trial. Handy, known for his roles in “Jumanji” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” had reportedly mentioned his girlfriend’s son had mental health issues to friends.
