TSA Officer Jazmine Kramer identified the anomaly on the X-ray machine, leading security training instructor Wade Brown, Jr. to conduct a physical search. Initially unable to locate the item, Brown re-screened the bag and then focused on a toothpaste tube, which felt unusual and had tape near one end. A closer inspection revealed a pocketknife ingeniously concealed inside the tube. The married couple traveling with the bag explained that their son had suggested the elaborate concealment method in an attempt to bypass security, a tactic Brown described as unprecedented in his experience at DAL. The couple voluntarily surrendered the knife and were permitted to continue their journey, highlighting the TSA’s vigilance and the importance of inter-officer communication in identifying and resolving concealed threats, even those disguised in everyday items.
