Kushner Delivers Hamas Ultimatum: Disarm or Face Israel’s ‘Finish the Job’ with U.S. Backing

U.S. special envoy Jared Kushner has issued a stark ultimatum to Hamas, warning that the group must commit to disarming in Gaza or face an Israeli military operation to ‘finish the job,’ backed by the United States. Following high-stakes diplomatic meetings in Egypt and Israel, Kushner confirmed that Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to President Trump’s peace plan and a 15-point roadmap requiring the surrender of weapons. Kushner stated, “If they don’t follow through now on their commitment, everyone will see that they’re not genuine about peace, and then Israel will have a lot more support from the U.S. and others to go and finish the job in the appropriate way.” While acknowledging that Hamas ‘said all the right things’ in a cordial meeting, Kushner emphasized that trust in a terrorist organization is difficult, and progress will be measured by actions, with potential steps like weapon removal and tunnel filling within 30 to 90 days. He clarified that U.S. support for Gaza’s reconstruction is contingent upon demilitarization, stating, “We will not allow Gaza to be rebuilt until demilitarization occurs.” Kushner expressed optimism about President Trump’s ability to broker a deal, noting that many in the region are ‘tired of war’ and ready for a new path, but reiterated that Israel’s security and right to self-defense remain paramount.
