Ex-Ariz. Dem Candidate Arrested for Allegedly Storming Ex’s Home with Knife and Tape, Claims BDSM ‘Misunderstanding’

Brianna Westbrook, a former Arizona Democratic congressional candidate and transgender rights activist, was arrested after allegedly forcing her way into an ex-partner’s home armed with a knife and tape, claiming the incident was a “misunderstanding” over a BDSM scene the victim denies ever agreeing to. According to court documents, police responded to a call where the victim reported Westbrook arriving at her door, leading the victim to believe it was her son. Upon opening the door, the victim found Westbrook brandishing a knife and tape. A struggle ensued, during which Westbrook allegedly pushed the victim onto a couch and ordered her to be still, prompting the victim to scream. The victim’s sister entered the room, and Westbrook reportedly lunged at both women with the knife before fleeing the residence when the victim pleaded for her to stop, mentioning her son’s imminent arrival. When confronted by officers, Westbrook described the event as a “big misunderstanding,” asserting that she and the victim were involved in BDSM and had agreed to re-enact a scene where Westbrook would scare the victim to help with past trauma, claiming they communicated this plan through “subliminal messages” on Instagram. However, the victim explicitly told police she never consented to such a re-enactment. Westbrook has been charged with felony third-degree burglary, aggravated assault with a simulated deadly weapon, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Police records also indicate a history of domestic violence with increasing frequency and intensity. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
