Four suspects already charged in the murder of a Virginia teenager are now implicated in a second homicide after sophisticated DNA analysis identified Helen Marie Pullen Banks, 56, whose remains were discovered over three months ago, revealing what authorities describe as two connected, premeditated killings. Rashad Antonio Mayfield, 21, Devonti Gregory Pettaway, 19, Jaden Lamont Phillips, 20, and Kennady Jade Lambert, 18, have all been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and firearm charges in Banks’ death, adding to their existing charges in the death of 18-year-old Jayden McComber, who disappeared the same day Banks’ remains were found. Investigators had suspected a link early on, with McComber’s vehicle, recovered the day after his disappearance, yielding crucial forensic leads that helped locate his body and identify the suspects. Ballistic testing, with assistance from the ATF, ultimately provided the forensic evidence connecting the two murders, despite the suspects allegedly taking deliberate measures to conceal Banks’ identity. While both victims reportedly knew at least one of the suspects, authorities have uncovered no evidence of prior disputes and have not disclosed a motive or whether Banks and McComber knew each other, emphasizing the premeditated nature of these acts.
