A seemingly routine Florida traffic stop devolved into a terrifying ordeal when a suspect, identified as Shakoi Donovan, allegedly sped away with one officer trapped inside his vehicle and dragged a second officer 10 to 15 feet down the asphalt. The incident, captured on bodycam and dashcam footage, began when officers initiated a stop on suspicion of DUI after observing Donovan’s silver Infiniti weaving erratically. When Donovan refused to exit his vehicle despite repeated commands, officers attempted to remove him by opening the car door. At that critical moment, Donovan allegedly accelerated, trapping one officer between himself and the steering wheel while the other officer, who was holding onto the car, was violently thrown to the ground and tumbled multiple times. The officer inside the vehicle was pinned, while the dragged officer sustained injuries. Donovan, who has a history of serious offenses including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, is now facing severe charges, including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting with violence. He remains in custody awaiting a court date.
