Balloon Explosion Sparks Inferno at Bali Beachside Restaurant

A seemingly innocuous birthday celebration at a popular Bali beachside restaurant turned into a terrifying inferno when a balloon reportedly exploded, engulfing the venue in flames and sending partygoers scrambling for safety. The incident occurred at Chez Gado-Gado in the Seminyak resort area, where videos show flames rapidly consuming the straw-roofed structure. Witnesses described the chaos erupting after a waitress, while attempting to light a birthday cake candle, accidentally ignited a balloon with the flame. The subsequent pop and explosion were so intense that guests felt the heat, and within moments, the entire restaurant was ablaze. An Australian teenager was hospitalized with burns, and while fire services took over two hours to extinguish the blaze, initial attempts by staff with fire extinguishers were futile against the rapidly spreading flames. The Denpasar Police strongly suspect the fire originated from the balloon igniting from a candle flame, leading to a catastrophic chain reaction that destroyed the beloved establishment, which has since announced it is temporarily closed.
