Three Men Convicted in Brutal Murder of Australian Brothers and American Friend on Mexico Surf Trip

Three men have been found guilty of the horrific murders of Australian brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and their American friend Carter Rhoad, whose lives were brutally cut short during a surfing trip in Baja, California. A judge in Ensenada delivered the guilty verdicts for Jesús Gerardo García, known as “El Kekas,” Irineo Francisco “N,” and Ángel Jesús “N,” who were also convicted of armed robbery and carjacking in connection with the April 2024 killings. The prosecution painted a grim picture during the month-long trial, with testimony revealing one of the victims pleaded for his life before being murdered. García’s former partner testified that he confessed to approaching the surfers’ tent with a gun, and that despite the victims offering their belongings, he proceeded with the attack. The friends had traveled to Punta San Jose for a surf trip and were reported missing before their bodies were discovered in a well. While initial reports suggested the killings stemmed from a confrontation during an attempted tire theft, the trial’s revelations point to a more direct and violent encounter. The trio now faces sentencing, with prosecutors seeking a staggering 210 years in prison for each defendant, a verdict that brings a measure of justice to the grieving families who continue to honor the vibrant lives of the young men lost to this senseless act of violence.
