Viral Video Captures ASU Cheerleader Thrown to Ground, Charged After Allegedly Interfering with Arrest

Newly released police video from Tempe, Arizona, shows ASU senior Eryn Bonner being violently thrown to the ground and pinned to a police bicycle by officers after she allegedly interfered with an ongoing arrest. The July 19 incident, captured on viral video, shows Bonner screaming “Let him go! Let him go!” as police detain two men accompanying her. She suffered bruises to her face and was subsequently charged with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and hindering or interfering with police, though felony charges were declined. Bonner’s attorney, Benjamin Taylor, is calling for the arresting officer’s termination, stating the family is heartbroken and that “Expecting public servants to live up to the highest standards of their profession is not an act of animosity toward those who serve with honor.” The video shows the confrontation escalating after Bonner and her friends encountered a third man on the sidewalk, leading to an apparent argument that prompted police intervention.
