A man identified as David Lawrence Crosby II, 44, of Surrency, Georgia, faces child abuse charges after allegedly assaulting two children playing tag on a Carnival cruise ship. The incident occurred on July 26 aboard the Carnival Glory as it sailed to the Bahamas. According to a probable cause affidavit, Crosby, who admitted to being “heavily intoxicated” and having no memory of the event, encountered a group of children in a hallway and proceeded to hit one child in the face, causing a bloody lip, and then struck a second child in the stomach. The assault was reportedly captured on the ship’s security cameras. Carnival Cruise Line stated that its security team responded immediately, confined Crosby to his cabin for the remainder of the voyage, referred him to local law enforcement upon arrival at Port Canaveral, issued a code of conduct violation fee, and banned him from future sailings, emphasizing their zero-tolerance policy for such behavior. Crosby was arrested by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office on two counts of child abuse and subsequently released on a $20,000 bond. He has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for arraignment on August 25.
