Embattled Republican Representative Cory Mills of Florida is reportedly under active criminal investigation by the Department of Justice, according to sources familiar with the matter. This development comes as Mills is already facing scrutiny from the House Ethics Committee, which is investigating allegations of campaign finance violations, sexual misconduct, and dating violence. The Ethics Committee’s probe, initiated in November 2025, is ongoing and specifically involves claims of sexual misconduct and/or dating violence, with a separate incident in February 2025 allegedly involving domestic abuse and another in July 2025 concerning blackmail where he purportedly threatened to release explicit images of a former partner. Despite these serious allegations, Mills has denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged with any crimes. Adding to the pressure, Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina filed a motion in April to expel Mills, citing accusations of misrepresenting his military service, sexual misconduct, campaign finance violations, and illicit involvement in federal contracts during his tenure. Mills, first elected in 2022 and re-elected in 2024, is currently seeking a third term in the House.
