Hero Dad’s Terrifying 911 Call Reveals Moment He Rushed Oregon School Gunman: ‘I Will Shoot Them Right Now’

The chilling bravery of a father confronting an active shooter at an Oregon elementary school was captured in a desperate 911 call, where he declared, “I have a gun, and I will shoot them right now.” Kaylub Giamanco, whose two daughters were inside Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, made the urgent plea on October 15 as a 16-year-old gunman unleashed terror, ultimately killing three children and a teacher. In the raw audio released by Deschutes 911, Giamanco can be heard relaying the unfolding horror to the dispatcher, “They’re on the south side, entering the building, right now,” as he simultaneously warned that people were being shot. Despite the dispatcher’s pleas to wait for police, Giamanco, fearing for his life and hearing children’s desperate cries, army crawled towards the unfolding massacre. He entered the school armed with a pistol legally kept in his vehicle, encountering a teacher already wrestling with the attacker. Giamanco then fired multiple shots, stopping the gunman. While hailed as a hero for his courageous intervention that saved countless lives, Giamanco expressed profound anguish over the victims he couldn’t save, telling OPB, “I want to apologize for not saving their babies.” The family of slain teacher Megan Lambert, 25, recognized his heroic act, stating, “We think he is a hero. You selflessly put yourself at risk for others.”
