Tragedy struck Virginia State University in the early hours of Saturday morning as a shooting incident left at least five individuals wounded, with one person in critical condition. VSU Police responded to the 3300 block of Boisseau Street around 1:28 a.m. to find five victims suffering from gunshot wounds outside the university’s residence halls. All five were rushed to local hospitals, where four are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while the fifth remains in critical condition. The violence occurred near the Quad Annexes student housing complex, and VSU Police confirmed the incident involved multiple suspects, though no arrests have been made. The campus, which had just opened its resident halls for returning students for the summer semester beginning Monday, experienced a temporary lockdown that has since been lifted. Chesterfield County Police are leading the investigation, with assistance from VSU Police, ATF, and the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as a significant law enforcement presence remains on campus.
