The employee alerted a colleague to contact the police and told Hearn to stop, to which Hearn allegedly responded that NPS personnel were “awfully sensitive about the pool.” Hearn reportedly continued his actions until National Guard soldiers intervened. Trump pointed to this witness account as crucial evidence, arguing it supports his assertion that at least some of the damage was deliberate, despite federal prosecutors having moved to dismiss the felony charge against Hearn. He also alluded to other alleged incidents, including the use of an “acid like material” on newly installed grass and the inscription “86 47,” suggesting significant damage beyond contractor error, though acknowledging some issues stemmed from rushed renovations ahead of July 4th.
