Marine Veteran Las Vegas Officer Killed in Ambush; Armed Suspect Dead

A heroic Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer, a decorated Marine veteran who had only served with the force since November 2023, was tragically killed Tuesday while responding to a volatile situation involving an armed and reportedly intoxicated individual. The incident unfolded when officers, aided by drones, were dispatched to a business on East Tropicana Avenue following reports of a person brandishing a firearm. Upon locating the suspect near the I-11 underpass, the individual opened fire on law enforcement, prompting a return volley. Despite the efforts of fellow officers and emergency medical personnel, the 30-year-old officer sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. The armed suspect was also killed at the scene. Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill, visibly emotional, announced the officer’s passing, highlighting his service to both country as a Marine and community as a police officer, and vowing support for the officer’s grieving family and department.
