NYC Mayor’s Office Accused of Orchestrating Influencer ‘Pressure Campaign’ Against Business Leaders

Senior officials within New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration are reportedly planning a coordinated social media offensive targeting prominent business executives, aiming to leverage a taxpayer-funded network of over 200 influencers. This alleged strategy, revealed by sources to the New York Post, includes mobilizing the “NYC Creators Announcements” Signal group, which has previously been reported to receive daily talking points and exclusive access from City Hall. The reported targets include leaders of the influential Partnership for New York City, with Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla and Related Companies CEO Jeff Blau also mentioned as potential targets. Sources indicate the plan aims to “blindside” Steven Fulop, the new head of the Partnership, with one insider stating the intent is to “punch Fulop in the face.” While Mamdani’s spokesperson has vehemently denied the report, calling it “categorically false,” the administration’s use of influencers and encrypted communication apps like Signal has already drawn significant scrutiny from government watchdog groups like Reinvent Albany, which has raised concerns about transparency and the archiving of public records. This alleged plot emerges as Mamdani continues to advocate for higher taxes on wealthy New Yorkers and corporations to address the city’s budget challenges, despite recent setbacks with a pied-à-terre tax rollout. Partnership President and CEO Steven Fulop stated he has spoken with Mamdani and is taking the mayor at his word, but remains “vigilant and watchful,” warning of “huge repercussions in a bad way” if such plans are pursued.
