A terrifying incident unfolded at Seaside Heights’ Casino Pier on Monday evening when a 2-year-old girl fell from the Sky Ride, a chairlift-style attraction approximately 10-12 feet above the boardwalk. The child tumbled to the entrance platform and then onto the sand just as the ride was about to begin its ascent, while a 3-year-old boy who was with her remained on the ride, prompting an immediate shutdown by Casino Pier staff. Firefighters quickly responded, using a ladder to safely bring the boy down. Emergency medical services attended to the young girl, and she, along with her aunt, were transported to Community Medical Center for evaluation. Initial reports suggest the ride was functioning properly and there were no apparent defects, but the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs is investigating the incident, marking the latest in a series of alarming amusement park ride occurrences nationwide.
