Despite its immense influence, CD Projekt Red has revealed it cannot guarantee a PlayStation 5 disc-based edition for the highly anticipated The Witcher 4, set for release in 2028. According to joint CEO Michał Nowakowski, the studio is entirely at the mercy of Sony’s manufacturing capabilities for physical media. This means that regardless of CD Projekt Red’s intentions, the availability of a disc version for the PS5 hinges on factors beyond their control, leaving players who prefer physical copies in a state of uncertainty. However, the studio did promise that the game box would include “feelies,” a nod to the collectible physical extras that were a hallmark of the original Witcher games, suggesting a commitment to the tactile collector’s experience even if the disc format itself is not assured.
