In an affluent Boston suburb, a 17-year-old Massachusetts teen, Arjun Aravind, stands accused of the brutal murders of his mother, Sudha Venkatesan, 45, and his 14-year-old brother, Siddharth Aravind, within their Acton home. Prosecutors revealed that in the lead-up to the killings, Aravind engaged in disturbing online activity, including using ChatGPT to explore theoretical scenarios and fantasies about harming his family. The grim discovery was made Tuesday evening after Aravind’s father, concerned by unanswered calls and a tutor’s inability to enter the house, requested a welfare check. Responding officers found Siddharth deceased on the first floor and Venkatesan in the basement, both exhibiting signs of blunt-force trauma. Investigators also noted evidence of a violent struggle within the residence. Aravind was apprehended early Wednesday morning approximately 30 miles away, found inside his mother’s stolen vehicle, with investigators recovering items from the car believed to be connected to the crime scene. His defense attorney has requested a mental health evaluation for the teen, who pleaded not guilty to murder charges and was ordered held without bail, with his father reportedly having begun hiding knives in the house due to concerns over his son’s recent behavior and internet use.
