Erik Santana-Garcia, a 34-year-old Mexican national with a history of multiple deportations, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison without parole, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for the interstate transportation of a minor with intent to engage in illegal sexual activity, possession of child pornography, and illegally reentering the U.S. Santana-Garcia was apprehended in Oak Grove, Missouri, with a minor he had transported from Utah with the intent to engage in sexual activity. Investigators subsequently discovered child pornography depicting a second minor on a phone seized from him. His most recent deportation prior to this arrest was in March 2019. The joint effort by Homeland Security Investigations and local law enforcement led to his capture, and he will be deported to Mexico upon completion of his sentence, a move ICE emphasized highlights a zero-tolerance policy for child predators and illegal immigration.
