The Mississippi teenager accused of brutally murdering an elderly couple in their home was already a person of interest to local law enforcement, with deputies identifying him as a suspect in “many” other burglaries and car thefts in the vicinity, according to an incident report obtained by Fox News Digital. Cordarius Hobbs, 17, is alleged to have broken into the Mendenhall, Mississippi, home of Billy and Virginia Carol Blair, aged 74 and 71 respectively, on June 3, leading to their deaths. The Simpson County Sheriff’s Department report explicitly states, “When we first arrived I and other Deputies and Investigators believe the suspect could be a troubled juvenile known to us as Cordarius Hobbs who is also suspected of many other home burglaries as well as auto theft in this immediate area.” This revelation comes as Hobbs’ family members previously stated during a July preliminary hearing that the teen had done odd jobs for the Blairs, such as yard work. Despite his grandfather’s belief in his innocence, citing the seeming illogicality of robbing someone for whom he worked, authorities have charged Hobbs with two counts of capital murder and one count of burglary, among ten other charges, and he has been denied bond. The horrific scene at the Blair residence, where Virginia was found shot three times in the back of the head and Billy with three gunshot wounds to the face, unfolded after contractors discovered an open car door with guns on the seats and alerted the sheriff’s department for a welfare check, which escalated into a standoff and a chase before Hobbs was apprehended unarmed.
