Safford Wolfson, 36, has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of his mother, 61-year-old Angela Caprioli, who was found deceased in her Laguna Beach home on Monday. The arrest followed a death investigation initiated by police who responded to the residence, where Caprioli was discovered deceased. Days before the alleged killing, a neighbor reported witnessing a heated and hostile argument between Wolfson and Caprioli, describing the interaction as one where the mother appeared ‘fed up’ before retreating inside and slamming the door. Wolfson, who had reportedly moved into the home approximately six months prior and was described as a ‘mysterious’ figure by neighbors, was identified as a person of interest before his arrest on Thursday. Social media accounts linked to Wolfson indicate the account holder identifies as transgender, and a 2024 Facebook post attributed to him read, “Not even my mom wants to hang out with me man… talk about lame-o!” The circumstances surrounding Caprioli’s death are still under investigation.
