A Utah teenager, now 17, who was allegedly held captive for over 500 days by a 39-year-old man in Oregon, has reportedly revealed harrowing details of her ordeal, including being repeatedly beaten and forced to remove her braces with pliers to conceal her identity. Kylie Arellano vanished in May 2025 after meeting Adam Hunter Harmel online, allegedly through Snapchat. Court documents detail how Harmel confined her to his basement, slept with a knife under his pillow, and kept her isolated. He is accused of grooming her, transporting her across state lines with the intent of sexual activity, and sexually assaulting her. Arellano’s escape began when she connected with another minor through the online game ‘Among Us,’ eventually revealing her situation. A subsequent video call with the FBI confirmed her claims, leading to her rescue and Harmel’s arrest. Investigators found knives, BB guns, and sexual lubricant at his residence, and authorities have vowed to hold him accountable for exploiting a vulnerable minor.
