The Republican National Committee has vehemently rejected the notion that both political parties engage in similar election tactics, particularly in light of a New York Times report exposing a Democrat-linked effort to place a second candidate named Dan Sullivan on Alaska’s Senate ballot. RNC election integrity communications director Ally Triolo asserted that Republicans are solely focused on securing elections, while Democrats are actively attempting to commit fraud. “No, both sides of the aisle don’t do this,” Triolo stated, emphasizing the RNC’s commitment to fair and honest elections. She contrasted this with Democratic opposition to measures like the Save America Act and common-sense safeguards, labeling the Alaska scheme as “fraudulent behavior” by Democrats with “ill intentions” aimed at disenfranchising voters. The report revealed that Mary Peltola’s campaign, along with aides from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, allegedly worked to put a retired teacher named Dan J. Sullivan on the ballot to confuse voters and potentially siphon votes from the incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan. Triolo highlighted that Republicans attempted to expose this scheme months prior, suggesting Democrats’ opposition to election integrity stems from a desire to avoid accountability for such actions. The Department of Justice has intervened, suing to block certification of Peltola’s win if the votes for the second Sullivan could have altered the outcome, and a criminal investigation into potential civil-rights violations has reportedly intensified. Vice President JD Vance and Senate Majority Leader John Thune have also condemned the alleged scheme as an attempt to “steal a Senate seat” and “dirty pool,” respectively. An aggressive criminal investigation, expected to continue beyond Election Day, is already underway by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Alaska, with sources indicating a focus on possible civil-rights violations. Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy has also initiated a state investigation. Despite denials from Peltola’s campaign and the DSCC, the RNC maintains that this is a clear attempt to deceive voters, a point even acknowledged by mainstream media. The RNC has significantly increased its efforts in Alaska to protect the vote and educate voters, underscoring the high stakes of the midterm election.
